Pierre Foundation's “Backpacks for Brighter Futures” Brings the Community Together for Students in Haiti

As families across Haiti prepare for a new school year, Pierre Foundation is working to make sure more children can walk into the classroom with the basic supplies they need to learn.

At the beginning of August, Pierre Foundation launched Backpacks for Brighter Futures, a back-to-school supply drive benefiting children in Haiti. What began as a simple call for backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other classroom essentials quickly grew into a community effort supported by donors and members of the Haitian music, entertainment, and media community.

A Community Effort

To help spread the word, Pierre Foundation welcomed six individuals as Campaign Ambassadors, each using their platform to encourage supporters to get involved:

Flav, singer of Haitian Konpa band Gabel; AndyBeatz, Rabòday artist; Carlo, singer of the formerly known Haitian Konpa band Carimi; GregPromo, Haitian blogger and media personality; Mac D, singer of Konpa band Harmonik; and Nodrant, Haitian drummer and entrepreneur.

Their support helped introduce the campaign to new audiences and brought greater attention to a simple goal: helping children in Haiti begin the school year prepared.

From Backpacks to Back-to-School Supply Kits

Rather than collecting monetary donations, the campaign has directed supporters to an Amazon Registry, allowing them to purchase the actual supplies needed for the children.

The response has made a meaningful difference.

As the campaign enters its final days, Pierre Foundation has approximately 180 Back-to-School Supply Kits ready. Every completed kit represents something simple but important: one more child beginning school with the tools to participate, learn, and feel prepared.

Pierre Foundation extends its gratitude to every donor, Campaign Ambassador, supporter, and person who shared the campaign. Whether someone purchased a backpack, donated a few notebooks, bought a pack of pencils, or simply helped spread the word, each contribution has helped move the campaign forward.
